Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
It happens only once in a great while that the annual rite of spring that is the St. Patrick’s Day Parade is not on the same day in the Twin Citie’s of St. Paul and Minneapolis. This was one of those year’s, with St. Paul celebrating on Saturday the 15th, while Minneapolis celebrates today, the 17th. This is from the Saint Patrick’s Association of St. Paul website;
“It is important to note that the parade is being held two days earlier than the traditional St. Patrick’s Day of March 17th. The reason for this is that the 17th falls within the observance of Holy Week in 2008. The Catholic Church has officially moved the feast day of St. Patrick to March 15th to avoid conflicting with Holy Week. The last time St Patrick’s Day had to be moved was in 1940 when it was changed to April 3rd because it coincided with Palm Sunday. The next time this will happen is in 152 years.”
| I march in the St. Paul parade behind the banner of The McNaughton Clan, good friends and multi generation parade participants. I barely show on the left side of the picture; I’m wearing a green tie and sun glasses. | |

| The streets, ramps and skyways filled with people. Last year the St. Paul parade attracted over 100,000 participants! |
